How do I know if counselling is right for me?
People seek counselling for many different reasons, including anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, life changes, or simply feeling overwhelmed. Counselling offers a supportive and confidential space to explore whatever may be affecting your wellbeing.
Are sessions available online?
Yes. We offer online counselling sessions across the UK as well as in-person appointments in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
What happens during the first session?
Your first consultation is free and gives you the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling, ask questions, and decide whether you feel comfortable working with your counsellor.
Can I choose online or in-person counselling?
Where availability allows, clients can discuss preferences for online or in-person sessions during the referral process.
Do I need to have a mental health diagnosis to access counselling?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or referral to access counselling through CCC.
How long does counselling last?
Counselling is different for everyone. Some people prefer shorter-term support, while others choose to work longer-term depending on their individual needs and goals.
What is the difference between a qualified counsellor and a trainee counsellor?
Trainee counsellors are completing accredited professional counselling training and work under ongoing clinical supervision while following professional ethical frameworks. Sessions with trainee counsellors maintain the same confidential and professional approach.
What if I don’t feel comfortable with my counsellor?
The relationship between counsellor and client is an important part of therapy. If you feel that your counsellor is not the right fit for you, this can be discussed and alternative options explored where possible.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential, although there are rare situations where confidentiality may need to be broken if there are serious safeguarding concerns or legal obligations. Your counsellor will explain confidentiality fully during your first session.
How often do sessions take place?
Sessions usually take place weekly and last up to 50 minutes.
What if I feel nervous about starting counselling?
It is completely normal to feel nervous before starting counselling. Your counsellor will aim to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can work at your own pace.
